Common questions

What is the difference between washing and dry cleaning?
Washing uses water and detergent and suits everyday cotton and synthetic clothes. Dry cleaning uses solvent instead of water and is meant for fabrics that shrink, bleed colour or lose shape when wet — silk sarees, woollens, suits and heavy embroidered clothes. Ask which one your garment needs rather than assuming.
Can old stains be removed?
Sometimes, but a stain that has set — especially one that has already been ironed over — is much harder. Take the garment in as soon as you can and say what caused the stain, because the treatment for oil, ink, food and colour bleeding is not the same.
Is my heavy wedding outfit safe to dry clean?
Usually, but tell them about beadwork, zari or delicate embroidery before leaving it, and ask how it will be handled. It is also worth having heavy outfits cleaned soon after the function rather than storing them dirty, because stains set over months.
